TERMS
MichiLoop Terms of Use
Effective: 19 July 2026 / Last updated: 24 August 2026
These Terms govern use of the MichiLoop iPhone app and its official website (together, the “Service”).
The “Provider” means the person or entity displayed as the seller on MichiLoop’s App Store product page. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. App Store licence
Unless the Provider separately supplies a custom EULA through App Store Connect, the Apple Standard EULA applies to the licence for MichiLoop distributed through the App Store. These Terms supplement it with MichiLoop-specific service details, safety notices, and conditions of use.
2. The Service
MichiLoop provides trip planning, travelled-route and distance logging, journey journals containing photos, video, audio, places and reflections, and GPX import and export. Features may be unavailable depending on the device, operating system, permissions, connectivity, Apple services, or region.
Photo and video capture, voice notes, unlimited ride logging, basic one-day plans, up to three saved plans and drafts in total, Spot Book, journals, basic media editing, safety features, access to and deletion of saved data, and basic export remain available without an additional purchase. A user can complete the core loop of planning a journey, recording the ride, keeping a journal, revisiting it, and sharing it without buying Creator Pack or MichiLoop Plus. Features, terms, or pricing may change in the future. Any change will follow applicable law and App Store processes, with the content, price, and applicable conditions disclosed before purchase or use.
3. Creator Pack, MichiLoop Plus, and purchases
Creator Pack is a one-time, non-consumable App Store in-app purchase that permanently unlocks route, date, place, distance and duration overlays plus advanced colour, filter, text and drawing/markup tools. Creator Pack itself is not a subscription.
MichiLoop Plus is an auto-renewable subscription that includes Creator Pack features while active, plus 2-to-14-day trips, a fourth or later saved plan or draft, KML and map-link imports, per-leg transport, avoidance and route-candidate settings, a second or later vehicle, and eligible features added or updated during the subscription period. Monthly and annual plans are offered. Eligible new subscribers may be shown a 14-day introductory free trial on the annual plan. The monthly plan does not include a free trial. Available plans, trial eligibility, regional price, tax, and conditions are those shown in the app and Apple’s purchase sheet before purchase.
Payment is charged to the Apple Account at confirmation. An auto-renewable subscription renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and the Apple Account is charged within 24 hours before renewal. After purchase, subscriptions can be changed or cancelled in the Apple Account subscription-management screen. If a free trial is not cancelled before it ends, it converts to the paid plan and price shown at enrolment.
After MichiLoop Plus ends, records, journals, plans, and vehicle data already saved remain available for viewing, editing and deletion, together with basic export. New Plus-only actions and advanced finishing tools are unavailable unless Creator Pack was purchased separately. If Creator Pack was purchased separately, those one-time-purchase features remain available after Plus ends.
Entitlements and subscription status depend on the Apple Account and the transaction status confirmed by the App Store, and can be checked through Restore Purchases in the app. Restoration is available only when Apple confirms an eligible purchase or subscription. Apple’s process, terms, and applicable law govern refund requests and decisions. Availability through Family Sharing or any other sharing arrangement follows the product conditions Apple displays at purchase and is not guaranteed by these Terms.
4. Important safety terms
- Do not operate a device while riding or driving. Stop in a safe place before checking a log or plan.
- MichiLoop is not an emergency service, crash detection, traffic-restriction, congestion, lane, speed, or hazard-warning service, and does not replace a dedicated navigation system.
- Routes use Apple MapKit automobile or cycling directions according to the selected vehicle. Routes do not guarantee access, safety, or current road conditions for any vehicle.
- Routes, weather, opening hours, restrictions, disasters, and road conditions may be inaccurate or out of date. Check official information before departure and when needed.
5. User responsibilities
You must use the Service in compliance with applicable law, traffic rules, facility conditions, and third-party rights. A minor must obtain consent from a parent or guardian where required by applicable law.
You are responsible for managing your device, Apple Account, iCloud, backups, connectivity, and permissions. Export or otherwise back up important records when appropriate.
6. Prohibited conduct
- Use that violates law, traffic rules, public order, or third-party rights
- Unsafe device operation while travelling or use that encourages dangerous conduct
- Unauthorised access to, interference with, or excessive load on the Service, Apple, or third-party services
- Copying, modifying, reverse engineering, or redistributing the app except where permitted by law
- Impersonation, false support requests, or abuse of the support channel
7. User records and rights
Rights in text, photos, videos, audio, and other records created or selected by a user remain with the user or the relevant rights holder. Do not store or share material that infringes another person’s rights.
The Provider does not access user journals or media during ordinary use of the current App Store version. If the user exports or shares content, the selected destination’s terms apply.
8. External services
MichiLoop uses Apple MapKit, WeatherKit, iCloud, the App Store, and other Apple services. Apple’s terms apply to their provision, outages, changes, termination, and handling of data. The terms of any third-party sharing or storage destination selected by the user also apply.
9. Changes, suspension, and termination
The Provider may change, suspend, or end all or part of the Service for security, legal compliance, changes to Apple services, maintenance, or product improvement. Material changes will be announced in advance on the official website or in the app where reasonably possible.
You may stop using the Service by deleting app data and removing the app from your device. iCloud data can be deleted separately in the app or through iOS storage management.
10. Warranties and liability
The Service is provided as available. The Provider does not guarantee completeness, accuracy, currency, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, or that data will never be lost.
Except in cases of wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or liability that cannot be limited under mandatory consumer law, the Provider is not liable for indirect, special, or consequential loss or lost profit arising from use or inability to use the Service. Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Changes to these Terms
The Provider may update these Terms after considering the need for and reasonableness of the change. Material changes will be announced on the official website or in the app with their effective date. Continued use after that date means the updated Terms apply, unless applicable law requires a different process.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Japanese law. Disputes will be submitted to a court with jurisdiction under applicable law. Mandatory rights in the consumer’s place of residence are not affected.
